Local bar robbed at gunpoint

Pine County authorities are investigating an armed robbery of a Willow River bar on Independence Day.

Just after 1 a.m. on July 4, a 72-year-old woman bartender was cleaning up at the Corral Bar for the night when two white males in ski masks demanded money from the woman. She had just put the deposit in a safe and did not have the combination. One of the men, who was brandishing a weapon, pistol whipped the woman in the head.

The men drug her downstairs and had her count to 100 before they left. They got less than $100, which was tip money along with cash in her purse and her credit cards.

The woman called authorities and she was taken to Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake, where she received five staples to close the injury in her head.

Authorities have recovered physical evidence at the scene. Both men were wearing ski masks, long sleeve shirts and gloves.

Pine County deputies, with the assistance of the Minnesota State Patrol and the Moose Lake Police Department, responded to the scene.

A reward has been offered in the case.

The Pine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call the Pine County Sheriff’s Office at (320) 629-8380.
