Three-hundred-twenty-eight people participated in this year's Mercy Foundation Moose Run in early May despite chilly temperatures and off-and-on rain.
Each year since 2000, the Mercy Foundation Moose Run has donated all of its profits to charities and non-profits in the Barnum, Moose Lake, and Willow River areas.
This year's event generated nearly $6,000, which the organizers donated to the following organizations: $1,000 to the Willow River School LifeSmarts program; $1,000 to the Moose Lake Area Food Shelf; $1,000 to the Moose Lake School to start a gym shoe program; $1,500 to the Moose Lake School to help offset entry fees for experiencial learning activities; $500 to Moose Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. Relief Association; $500 to support the Moose Paddle event; and $500 to support the Moose Lake Triathlon.
The race organizers are grateful for the support of many local sponsors, including The Mercy Foundation, Pro Sound & Light, Art's Cafe, Gamper's, Lake State Credit Union, First National Bank of Moose Lake, Oakview, Wausau Homes, Market Place Foods, Hoffmann Hardware, Dairy Queen, Gateway Family Health Clinic, and Moose Lake Motors.
