The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels and the Barnum Bombers finally got to meet on the softball field Monday, April 29.
Rebel Andrea Youngberg was the first to score, with her run coming in the first inning.
The Bombers were able to keep the Rebels from scoring again until the fourth inning, when Jodi Michalski was able to make it around the bases to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead going into the fifth.
The fifth inning was the inning the Bombers finally were able to get on the board. Brittany Baier scored first for the Bombers, followed by Paige Rilea and finally Olivia Angell to give the Bombers a 3-2 lead. The Bomber lead was short lived.
The Rebel bats came alive in the bottom of the fifth, with Maia Killerud, Ally Bode, Nikki Grutkoski and Jodi Michalski all scoring to give the Rebels a 6-3 lead.
The Bombers gave it one last go in the top of the seventh with Rilea scoring again for the Bombers. With Olivia Angell on third base, Kerra Rowell came up to bat. The Rebels intentionally walked Rowell, presumably because with her first three at-bats she put the ball on the fence. She walked to first and then kept going while the Rebels weren't paying attention to get into scoring position.
With the tying run now in scoring position, Cheyanne Johnson came to the plate, but struck out giving the Rebels a 6-4 victory.
