Moose Lake school to offer child care

Superintendent's Corner

At the January Moose Lake School Board meeting, the board voted to bring back child care. We are looking at providing before and after school care as well as all day care for 3- to 5-year-old children.

After doing surveys and hearing from parents at our board meetings, the decision to provide child care in our building was unanimous. We are in the process of working out the details right now, however, if you have an interest in having your child in our child care next year, email Julie Duesler at jduesler@mooslake.k12.mn.us or call (218) 485-4834 ext. 1025.

We know that there will be some growing pains with this, but we feel this is a service that parents want us to provide. Over the past couple of years, parents have dropped off their children early at school and we have provided a person in the cafeteria to care for the children until school starts. Next year, students who are dropped off early will need to check in to our “Mini Moose Lodge” child care. Even though there will be a cost for this service, we feel that parents will appreciate a convenient and safe place for their children to be cared for.

There will be more details coming out in the coming months, so look for them on our website or in our school newsletter.
