The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels girls battled, but ultimately fell to the Cloquet Lumberjacks February 14.

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels girls basketball team hosted the Cloquet Lumberjacks on Thursday, February 14.

The Rebels started out strong, with Shaelyn Halverson dropping four long bombs from beyond the arc. Adri Jusczak did her business from beneath the basket, but the fast pace of the Lumberjacks sent the Rebels into half time trailing 30-25.

Halverson struggled in the second half, only able to put up a long shot from beyond the arc. Jusczak also struggled in the second half, only adding an additional four points, while Taylor Miller stepped up and dropped in nine points, three from beyond the arc.

In the end, the fast pace and multiple shooters of the Lumberjacks proved to be too much for the Rebels, with the Rebels falling 57-46.

Halverson led the Rebels' scoring with 15 points, all from beyond the arc, and two assists. Jusczak put up 13 points, one assist and two blocks. Miller came alive with nine points and three assists. Hayley Johnson ended the night with three points and two assists. Holly Mattison, Hannah Race, and Kayla Radel all three put up a pair of points to give the Rebels 46.

The Lumberjacks were led by ex-Barnum Bomber Jaiden Cofield with 19 points. The Lumberjacks came out ahead in the end with 57.
