Bombers still rolling
The Barnum Bombers boys basketball team traveled west to take on the McGregor Mercuries on February 8.
The night began with the Bombers pounding the Mercuries, with the Bombers jumping to a huge 55-14 lead in the first half.
Daniel Warpula started the night landing three pointer after three pointer. Brandon Newman and Zach Carlson also took their turns at landing a few three pointers, for a total of nine three pointers in the first half. The Bombers came out of halftime with the majority of the starters sitting and allowing the bench to take control. The Mercuries only added 18 points in the second half, while the Bombers put up 27. The night ended with the Mercuries taking a beating, falling 82-32.
Warpula ended the night with 19 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Newman put up 15 points, six rebounds, 12 assists and three steals. Carlson ended with 11 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal. John Zmyslony ended the night with eight points, two rebounds and one assist. Dacotah Haley also put up eight points and one rebound. Tory Slater would had seven points, seven rebounds and four steals. Samuel Anderson ended with six points and two rebounds. Nicholas Jelinek had two points, two rebounds, four assists and four steals. Tanner Fuglestad came off the bench for his first two varsity points. Chase Peterson also came off the bench for two points. Mitchell Weller put up one point, four rebounds and two assists. Nathan Jelinek went to the free throw line for one point and had two assists. Andrew Naslund came away from the night with one rebound and one assist. Thomas Ziegler came off the bench for one steal.
Barnum vs. Proctor
On February 11, the Bombers hosted the Proctor Rails. The Bombers once again came out of the gates running. They jumped to a nearly 20-point lead in the first seven minutes of the game with Warpula, Newman and Carlson all landing multiple three pointers.
The Bombers had a slight hight disadvantage, but that did not deter them. Anderson put up eight points in the first half. The Bombers went into halftime with a commanding 41-15 lead.
The second half of the night had Warpula continuing to hit from three point land. Nicholas Jelinek finally found his range and landed a pair of three pointers. Even Mitchell Weller got into the action, landing a three pointer from beyond the arc. The Rails finally got the opportunity to make a move when coach Rich Newman began to sub in from the bench.

The night ended with the Bombers steaming past the Rails 72-44.
Warpula ended the night with 20 points, 15 of them being three pointers, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Newman had 11 points, three rebounds, five assists and five steals. Carlson put up 10 points, two rebounds, three assists and one steal. Nicholas Jelinek put up eight points, four rebounds and two assists. Anderson had eight points and four rebounds. Haley came off the bench for six points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Weller came off the bench for three points and one rebound. Nathan Jelinek came off the bench for two points and one rebound. Slater and Peterson both put up two points for the night. Naslund came into the game for three rebounds. Finally, Perry Serrano came off the bench and had the Bombers' only block of the night.
