Willow River speller advances in competition

Willow River’s seventh grade triumphed at the January 29 Annual School Spelling Bee, as 12-year-old Samantha Nylen spelled her way to the championship. The bee involved two students from grades five through eight who won their grades’ competitions to earn a spot in the final contest. The second place winner was eighth grader Miranda Solomon.

On February 15, Samantha will represent Willow River in Duluth at the Regional Spelling Bee Competition. Miranda will also attend this competition as an alternate. If successful in the Duluth competition, Samantha will then advance to the state level of competition.
