Bomber girls take out Wrens, lose to Hunters

The Barnum Bombers girls basketball team hosted the Wrenshall Wrens on Thursday, January 24.
The Bombers came out strong in the first half with Daron Mainville leading the charge, scoring 19 points. Cheyanne Johnson stepped up and added 10 points, two from beyond the arc. Megan Nelson drove the lane and added eight points in the first half. Lissa Warpula hit from beyond the arc and from the paint to add five first-half points. Jaelyn Bushey went to the free throw line to add one point to give the Bombers a 43-11 first-half lead.
The second half had Nelson continuing to drive the basket to add an additional 12 points. Mainville put up an additional 10 points. Emma Koski came off the bench to toss up a three pointer and a two from under the basket. Johnson drove the basket to add an additional four points, while both Emily Miletich and Mariah Parker came off the bench to add two points apiece, giving the Bombers a 76-24 victory.
Mainville ended the night with 29 points, eight rebounds, three steals, six assists and three blocks. Nelson put up 20 points, six rebounds, two steals and four assists. Johnson ended the night with 14 points, six rebounds, one steal and four assists. Warpula ended with five points, two rebounds, three steals and five assists. Koski put up five points and one rebound. Miletich had two points, two rebounds and three assists. Parker ended with two points and one rebound. Bushey had one point, four rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block. Emma Casey had three rebounds, one steal and two assists.
Bombers take on Hunters
On Saturday, January 26, the Bombers hosted the Duluth Denfeld Hunters.
The Hunters came out strong with a fast paced and aggressive game plan, jumping out to a 40-29 point first-half lead.
Mainville put up nine points. Johnson had eight first-half points. Warpula added four points. Miletich launched one from three point land. Bushey drove the lane and added two points and drew the foul for a three point play. Nelson dropped two free throws to give the Bombers 29 first-half points.
The second half had Mainville adding an additional 18 points, while Johnson added 12 points, three from beyond the arc. Nelson was the only other Bomber to score in the second half with two points coming from the free throw line.
Mainville had 27 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, three assists and two blocks. Johnson had 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. Warpula put up four points, five rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block. Nelson added four points, four rebounds, one steal, two assists and one save. Bushey had three points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists. Miletich had three points, three rebounds and one steal. Casey had one rebound.
The Bombers fell by a score of 72-61.
