Bomber boys dominate

Barnum Bomber Tory Slater makes his presence felt under the basket during the game against Cromwell January 22.

On January 22, the Barnum Bomber boys basketball team hosted the Cromwell Cardinals.

Zach Carlson led the Bombers in the first half with 15 points. Brandon Newman added 12 first-half points. Daniel Warpula had nine points. Sam Anderson and Tory Slater both added four first-half points, while Dakota Haley put up three points. The Bombers led the Cardinals into halftime with a score of 47-34.

The second half had the Bombers coming out aggressive and nearly out-scoring the Cardinals by double. Carlson added eight second-half points. Warpula added five points. Newman put up and additional four points. Anderson added two points.

The Bombers' bench went to work with about nine minutes left in the half. Mitchell Weller put up five points. Nicholas Jelinek, Nathan Jelinek and Perry Serrano all added two points. Thomas Ziegler went to the free throw line to add one point to give the Bombers the 78-50 victory.

Carlson ended the night with 23 points, five rebounds, one steal and three assists. Newman had 16 points, four rebounds, nine steals and nine assists. Warpula had 14 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and five assists. Anderson had six points, six rebounds and two assists. Weller had five points and one rebound. Slater had four points, seven rebounds and one assist. Haley had three points and two rebounds. Serrano had two points and one rebound. Nicholas Jelinek had two points. Nathan Jelinek had two points. Ziegler ended the night with one point and one rebound.

Bombers battle Wrens

On Friday, January 25, the Bombers hit the road to travel to Wrenshall to take on the Wrens. The Bombers once again took control of the game early, leading the Wrens into halftime by a score of 43-18.

The second half had the Wrens' defense holding the Bombers to only 17 points, while putting up 13 of their own.

The Bombers defeated the Wrens with a score of 60-31. Warpula led the Bomber scoring with 16 points, five rebounds, five steals and six assists. Newman ended the night with 14 points, seven rebounds, four steals and six assists. Carlson added eight points, two rebounds, one steal and two assists. Anderson had five points, eight rebounds, two steals and two assists. Slater ended with three points and three rebounds. Nicholas Jelinek had three points, one rebound, one steal and one assist. Serrano came off the bench for three points and one rebound. Haley put up two points and three rebounds. Nathan Jelinek came off the bench for two points and two rebounds. John Zmyslony went to the free throw line for one point and one rebound.

Bombers host Hornets

On Saturday, January 26, the Bombers hosted the Hill City Hornets in the second game of the afternoon.

The first half belonged to the Bombers with Carlson taking control with 15 points, followed by Warpula with 11 points, Anderson with six points, Slater with two points, and Newman going to the free throw line for two points. Carlson led the Bombers into halftime with a score of 36-21.

The second half had the Bombers continuing to dominate, out-scoring the Hornets 38-23. Once again, the Bombers' bench helped secure the Bomber victory, winning 74-44.

Carlson ended the night with 22 points, six rebound, two steals and two assists. Warpula had 15 points, three rebounds, one steal and nine assists. Anderson ended the night with 12 points, three rebounds, four steals and two assists. Newman had nine points, six rebounds, five steals and 12 assists. Haley had five points and three rebounds. Slater ended the night with four points, seven rebounds and one assist. Weller came off the bench for three points. Zmyslony also came off the bench for two points and one rebound. Nathan Jelinek came off the bench for two points and two rebounds.
