Bomber boys fly high

The Barnum Bomber boys basketall team took the short trip to Carlton to take on the Bulldogs on Friday, January 4.
Brandon Newman and Daniel Warpula both led the charge for the Bombers putting up 10 points apiece, while Dakota Haley and Zach Carlson both added four points each, to give the Bombers a 28-16 lead going into half time.
Erik Adams and Lane Empson took charge of the second half of the game putting up a combined 40 points to bring the Bulldogs to within striking distance of the Bombers.
Newman however would answer the challenge putting up 20 second half points. Warpula contributed five points in the second half, while Tory Slater added four points and Mitchell Weller added three points. Carlson put up another pair. Despite the Bombers being outscored 43-34 in the second half, they came away with the 62-59 victory over the Bulldogs.
Newman led the scoring with 30 points, three rebounds, four steals and five assists. Warpula had 15 points, two rebounds and four assists. Carlson put up six points, one rebound, four steals and two assists. Slater added four points, eight rebounds and three assists. Haley had four points and three steals. Weller added three points and one steal. John Zmyslony and Nicholas Jelinek both had one rebound on the night.
Barnum vs. New Life
The Bomber boys hosted the Eagles of New Life Acadamy of Woodbury on Saturday, January 5 in the second game of a doubleheader on the night.
This was a game to remember with the Bombers and the Eagles both coming out to play. Warpula came out to lead the way for the Bombers with 17 first half points, followed by Carlson with nine points, Newman with seven points, Slater with six points, Samuel Anderson with six points, Haley with two points and Zmyslony with one point. The Bombers went into halftime with a 48-29 lead.
The second half had Warpula coming out on a mission to dominate the game adding 25 points to his total of 42 points on the night, going 16 of 22 from the free throw line. Warpula would came up just two points short of tying the school record for points in a game. Newman added 12 points in the second half. Slater stood his ground under the basket to add seven points in the second half. Carlson added four more points in the second half, while Anderson and Haley both added a pair of points.
Despite being outscored in the second half 54-52, the Bombers held onto the game, winning 100-83.
Warpula led the scoring with 42 points, two rebounds, three steals, six assists and three blocks. Newman added 19 points, four rebounds, three steals and nine assists and one save. Carlson had 13 points, two steals and two assists. Slater came away from the game with 13 points and five rebounds. Anderson put up eight points, eight rebounds, four steals and two assists. Haley had four points, four rebounds and one assist. Zmyslony put up one point. Nicholas Jelinek helped out with three rebounds and two assists.
