Lyons appears at court settlement conference

Kristine Marie Lyons, 59, Moose Lake, appeared in Carlton County court in front of Judge Robert Macaulay, Jr. for a settlement conference on Wednesday, January 2.

Lyons had been charged with two counts of DWI on August 15, 2012. Both are gross misdemeanors. Lyons has had two prior DWI convictions in the last 10 years.

David Keegan, attorney for Lyons, said that Lyons will plead guilty to one count. It was suggested that Lyons be sentenced to a year in jail, with all but 90 days stayed. Lyons would serve 30 days in the local jail and be monitored electronically for 60 days.

She would be fined $3,000, with $1,500 of the fine stayed.

Keegan reported that Lyons has successfully completed treatment at Hazeldon.

Jesse Berglund of the Carlton County Attorney’s office agreed with the proposed settlement.

A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted.

Sentencing was set for Monday, February 11, at 9 a.m.
