Moose Lake Area falls by two to Eveleth-Gilbert Area

Senior Rebels goalie K.K. Greene stopped 36 of 37 shots in her team\'s 2-1 win over Pequot Lakes last Thursday. After Pequot Lakes pulled their goalie and the Rebels had a penalty, the Moose Lake Area Rebels killed the 6 on 4 Pequot Lakes advantage in the last minute to win the game.

The Moose Lake Area (MLA) girls hockey team fell by two goals to Eveleth-Gilbert Area (EGA) on Tuesday, November 27 by a score of 4-2. MLA’s Andrea Youngberg and Sage Gerard each had a goal for the Rebels. Kaitlyn Greene took the loss in goal for the Rebels as Greene made 16 saves. MLA outshot the Golden Bears by 44-20.

Youngberg’s goal, assisted by Erin Mollberg and Cheyanne Wilson came first at 7:19 and was the lone goal of the first frame.

EGA scored two unassisted goals in the second stanza to take a 2-1 lead. Those goals were at 2:19 and 15:34.

Gerard scored on the power play, assisted by Jessica Bird, to draw the Rebels to within a goal at 4:30 of the third period. EGA put it away with two unassisted goals that came at 11:16 and 14:27.

Rebels beat Pequot Lakes

On Thursday, November 29, the Rebels went on the long road trip to Pequot Lakes and came away with their second win over the team this season, this time in a 2-1 decision.

Jessica Bird scored the first goal for the Rebels in the first period, but Pequot Lakes matched the goal later in the period to make it 1-1 after one.

In the second period, Youngberg tallied the Rebels' second goal, with an assist from Bird and Georgia Ryan.

In the third, the Rebels played tough defense to capture the win. Pequot Lakes pulled their goal in the last minute and with a Rebels penalty, they survived the 6-4 disadvantage.

Greene stopped 35 of 36 shots against her. The Rebels put 31 shots on net.

Rebels lose to Proctor-Hermantown

The MLA girls lost by two goals in a 3-1 game on Friday, November 30. The Rebels were outshot 34-24 with Kaitlyn Greene making 31 saves for MLA. Jessica Bird had the Rebels' only goal.

There was no scoring in the first period.

Proctor-Hermantown got two assisted goals in the second period to go up 2-0.

Bird’s goal came on the power play, assisted by Hannah Dougherty, at 9:07 of the third period for a 2-1 score. Proctor-Hermantown closed it out with an unassisted goal at 16:16 for the final tally of 3-1.

The Rebels played Chisago Lakes at home this past Tuesday. They host Hayward this Thursday at home and also host the WSFLG Blizzard on Tuesday, December 11.
