School library updated following flood

Superintendent's Corner

On Thursday, October 25, Moose Lake Community Schools held a school board candidate forum. I thought each candidate was articulate and passionate about how they would work to improve our school.

One candidate on the ballot, Adam Kamp, announced that he couldn’t run for the board because he secured a new job.

The reconstruction of the Moose Lake Community Schools library media center is complete. The design has been updated with a more casual, open look and feel. For more photos, go to the Moose Lake Community Schools home page at www.mooselake.k12.mn.us.

A big thank you goes out to the PTA for putting on this event. Remember to get out to vote on November 6.

It is amazing how small things make a difference. After being flood-damaged, we are finally done with the library. We changed the shelving so that it is lower and added soft furniture. We also made a new desk for the entrance of the library. It totally changed the look of the library/media center. I posted some pictures on our website, http://www.mooselake.k12.mn.us, for you to see. When you get a chance, check it out. We have had many positive comments about the new look from students and staff.

Right now, we are evaluating what to do with the family center we own in downtown Moose Lake. In the past, it was used to provide preschool services, but we have moved all of those services into the school now. We make money renting the facility, but if we are not using it for educational purposes, should we still own the facility? The board has directed me to look into selling the facility.
