Rebel golf teams win conference titles

The Rebel boys’ golf team is picking up where they left off last year - undefeated. Last year the boys won the Great River Conference going undefeated.
Their latest team was against the powerhouse Mille Lacs Raiders. The Raider are led by state participant Grant Exsted. The Rebels got by the Raiders at home, 151-159. The balanced attack by the Rebels made the difference. Low scores included the medalists from Mille Lacs, Dain Schultz (35), Grant Exsted ML (36), Gabe Douglas MLWR (36), Stephen Gassert MLWR (37), Nathanial Koeck MLWR (38) and Jacob Indihar MLWR (40). The seniors, Indihar, Koeck and Gassert are playing very well this year., They want to finish their high school careers repeating as conference champion.
The Lady Rebels are in a dogfight of their own. They may be the best team in the conference, but will be out to prove that at the conference championship on May 14th at the Fiddlestix Golf Club in Isle. The Pine City Dragons, considered by some to be the conference favorites, edged the girls by at Pine City by 202-205.

eedless to say they were unhappy with the results and are looking forward to the conference championship to knock off the Dragons. All points are double at the 18-hole conference finale.
At the home meet versus the Mille Lacs Raiders. The Rebels won 183-229. The Medalist was Alexis Babcock MLWR (44), followed by Kayla Larson and Lindsay Loehlein MLWR (45) and Samantha Schaumburg (49). Senior, Samantha Schaumburg has been a stabilizing force the past several years. Rebels golf is heating up along with the warmer weather.
Teams win conference titles
The Moose Lake/Willow River Boys’ and Girls’ golf teams both won conference championships on Mon., May 14th at the Fiddlestix Golf Course in Isle. The girls were tied for first with Pine City and Braham going in the final eight-team conference meet - the 18-hole conference championship showdown. The MLWR ladies scored 405, followed by Braham 422 and Pine City 436.

Scoring leaders for the Rebels and receiving All-Conference medals were Samantha Schaumburg 96, Alexis Babcock 96, Lindsay Loehlein 104 and Kayla Larson 109.
The boys, meanwhile, repeated as conference champions. They finished the regular season dual meets undefeated. At the conference meet they finished second. The Raiders from Mille Lacs scored well on their home course, shooting 326 to the Rebels 339 to tie the Rebel boys for the season title.
Grant Exsted of the Raider was meet medalist with a 75. Top scorers for the Rebels were Gabe Douglas 80 and Nathanial Koeck 83. Capturing All-Conference honors were Gabe Douglas, Stephen Gassert and Nathanial Koeck.
